Raija Jokinen Regard d'artiste
Raija Jokinen Regard d'artiste
Description
Finnish artist Raija Jokinen explores the deep connection between humans and nature through her delicate works, crafted primarily from linen and paper. Her organic silhouettes, suspended in space, evoke a quiet melancholy, blurring the boundaries between body and environment.
Trained in weaving and textile design at the University of Art and Design in Finland in the late 1980s, Jokinen has exhibited internationally for over 20 years and received numerous awards.
Linen fiber is her material of choice—dyed, assembled with rice starch, and meticulously sewn into intricate compositions. Like a painter, she draws with fibers, shaping two-dimensional forms that float in space, creating striking effects of transparency and shadow. By intertwining human anatomy with the delicate veins of linen, she gives her work an almost vegetal quality, exploring the profound connection between body and mind.
