Mei-fang Chiang is a distinguished artist who holds a degree from the National Taiwan University of Arts, as well as an MFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from the Graduate Institute of Applied Arts at Tainan National University of the Arts. Renowned for her long-standing work with aluminium, she skilfully combines industrial processes with traditional craft techniques, redefining the common perceptions of this material.
In her creative approach, Chiang primarily utilizes two techniques: dyeing and painting anodized aluminium, and constructing forms using pieces and wires. Her goal is to imbue aluminium, often regarded as mundane, inexpensive, and purely functional, with a deeper, spiritual essence.
Mei-fang Chiang's creations have been showcased in numerous art institutions and commercial galleries across Europe and America. Her works have been honored with inclusion in the permanent collection of the Taiwan Gold Museum and have received accolades from prestigious competitions, such as the Itami Museum of Art International Jewelry Competition. Additionally, her works are featured in the American Lark Books' Contemporary Crafts Album.
