Pekka Paikkari

Lives and works in Finland

B. 1960

The works of internationally known Finnish ceramist and sculptor Pekka Paikkari often reflect the transformative nature of clay. "The surface should be the same as the shape and color created from within the clay," he describes his way of studying the natural tensions of the material. Pekka's works have been exhibited around the world, and he is one of the founding members of the prestigious Arabian Art Department. His large-scale sculptures often examine the intersections of humanity and nature, reflecting the fundamental nature of ceramics. His works are in the collections of many international museums including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, The British Museum, Faenza Museum of Ceramics in Italy, Shigaraki Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art in Japan, Ceramics Museum of Barcelona, and among others.
