One of leading Dutch jewelry artists, Ralph Bakker is special. He is working in bold, recognizable style with gold, silver, niello, enamel and stones. Both colour and rhythm are essnetial to his jewelry, the rhythm being characterised by considered repetition and chain-linking. His necklaces tend to be more one-dimensional than three-dimensional, often even making the clasp the most distinguishing element of the piece. Such magnificently designed clasps could just as well be worn in front, similar to the historical jewellery pieces worn as part of the traditional clothing we know from Volendam and Zeelandthat. So full of symbolism.
Ralph Bakker’s work are included in various well-known international museum collections such as Victoria & Albert museum in London, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, The Koch Collection in Basel and Newark Museum of Art.
